Hotels inside the Sonar Qila (like Killa Bhawan, Suraj Haveli) exist but the fort is a living fort — the inside is narrow lanes not suitable for sedans and SUVs. We drop at the fort entrance and coordinate with the hotel for porter-carried luggage. The walk in is 5–7 minutes.
Can you drop us directly at Sam or Khuri desert camp?
Yes. Sam (40 km from Jaisalmer, 45 min) has a graded but dusty approach — most cars can reach the camp reception. Khuri (45 km, 1 hour) is similar. Suryagarh's private property has a tarmac road. All three are handled routinely.
When is the best time for Jaisalmer?
October to March. April and May are brutal — day temperatures regularly exceed 45°C and make desert-camp overnights uncomfortable. June to September is monsoon-light but still hot. The Desert Festival (February) is the cultural peak.
